| H2 Logic A/S and collaboration partners receive $3.45 million hydrogen & fuel cell funding grant from Danish EUDP program | Publication Date:11-July-2008 10:00 AM US Eastern Timezone Source:H2 Logic | | | H2 Logic A/S and collaboration partners have received a $3.45 million (€2.2 million) funding grant from Danish Energy Development & Demonstration Program (EUDP). The grant supports three hydrogen and fuel cell R/D/D projects with a total budget of more than $11.9 million (€7.7 million). Through the projects H2 Logic will further develop and demonstrate the company’s fuel cell hybrid systems and hydrogen refueling stations for materials handling and smaller road vehicles. The increasing prices of fossil fuels and the challenges of climate changes have put great focus on supporting the development of new sustainable energy technologies, especially for transport. H2 Logic A/S develops hydrogen powered fuel cells systems that in combination with batteries can enable a zero emission and low noise electric propulsion of vehicles with an energy efficiency more than twice that of gasoline powered vehicles. Hydrogen fuel for the fuel cell can be produced by splitting water through use of electricity from renewable energy sources, making it independent from fossil fuels. The Danish EUPD program have supported three projects where H2 Logic and a number of collaboration partners are to further develop and demonstrate hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in order to bring them closer to market use and commercialization. Total budget of the three projects combined are $11.9 (€7.7) with $3.45 million (€2.2 million) in support from the EUDP program. Two of the three projects will focus on development and demonstration of fuel cell hybrid systems and hydrogen refueling for materials handling vehicles such as forklifts. The last project will develop 2nd generation fuel cell hybrid systems and hydrogen refueling stations for smaller road vehicles with a planned later demonstration hereof in Denmark as part of the UN Climate Meeting (COP15) to be held in Copenhagen in late 2009. The road project is called “LINK2009” and will be part of the Hydrogen Link Denmark network and Scandinavian Hydrogen Highway Partnership, see further information on www.hydrogenlink.net/hydrogenlink/eng/ The funding grant from EUDP supports the H2 Logic 2012 business plan ambition of being positioned within the top3 worldwide for motive power solutions based on hydrogen and fuel cell technology for forklifts and other transport applications. |
